Baptism
Baptism
The Bible clearly teaches that baptism is the first step of obedience after making a commitment to Christ. Baptism allows a believer to communicate to the world their heart-felt commitment to follow Him. The Bible defines Baptism as:
- A sign of identification (Acts 8:36-38)
- Symbolic of death and resurrection (Romans 6:4-5)
- Representative of a cleansing (1 Peter 3:1)
- Important step of obedience in Scripture (Matthew 28:19-20, 1 John 2:3)
Baptism isn’t what saves you, but it’s an outward symbol of your inner commitment to follow Christ. In a way, baptism is a lot like a wedding ring. The ring doesn’t make you married, but it’s a symbol of your love and devotion to your spouse, and that your life is being lived for someone else.
